Dramas for PAC Racing at WSID

A usual testing day turned to disaster for PAC Performance with their flagship Mazda-6 drag car caught on fire at the end of a pass. PAC Performance team had been working hard to get the car prepared for the biggest event on the Sport Compact calendar – the Jamboree. Only three weeks ago the car posted 6.89 – its fastest time yet. What looked like a good, clean pass suddenly turned bad with the sound of the fire truck siren. PAC Performance’s Rocky Rehayem explains:
“One of the fuel fittings on the fuel rail has snapped, allowing fuel to spray inside the engine bay – and that’s never a good thing. The fuel caught on fire almost immediately, and there was only one fire marshal at the end of the track. By the time the fire truck got to us and put the fire out, the damage was already done.”
With the Jamboree only a week away, this could not have come at a worse time for the PAC team, and they are facing an uphill battle to fix the extensive under-bonnet damage before the event.
Turbosmart wishes PAC Performance all the luck and hopes to see them flying the rotary flag at Willowbank next weekend!
